Small Butterfly - 35” H, 45” Wingspan
“I saw a preserved butterfly that was virtually transparent and I thought I could incorporate the butterflies delicacy and fragility with the vastness and beauty of the sky using stained glass, paint and decorative embellishments.”
Chris was raised in many places as a child of Military parents. Her mother was German, and as a child, a great Uncle in Germany, who painted art in many German chapels, inspired Chris. She was fascinated by his use of color combinations and designs. One of her favorite activities as a child was to draw and paint, which explains her passion for water color. Chris is a self-taught artist who does both freelance and commercial art. Drawing, watercolor, handcrafted pottery, hand painted eggs and original card designs are among her artistic skill set. Professionally, she was the artistic designer for a large company that produced urns and another that required designs for paper cut engraved pieces. She has also designed tattoos for people along the way.
Why FLIGHT? “I had seen so many of the beautiful butterflies on display in town and am pleased to know that the purpose to raise funds for the arts and sciences brings awareness through such an engaging and beautiful art form.”
