Lead Leslie Campbell "Deep Roots in the Flint Hills"
Description
"The tallgrass prairie is home to a wide variety of native plants whose roots extend deep into the soil and are a vital part of this extensive ecosystem. These deep roots bind together those connected to the Flint Hills. The farmers, ranchers, Indigenous People, and animals living in this breathtaking landscape depend on this unique area of land. The leadplant, Kansas gayfeather, and compass plant are wildflowers that contribute to the health of the Flint Hills. Their roots grow to 14 feet and help sustain this important ecosystem. I used fused fabric, raw-edge quilting, hand embroidery, and thread painting to create a unique art quilt." Fiber: Wool, Cotton, & Embroidery. Framed, 25H x 13W. Leslie Campbell is an art quilter from Lawrence, Kansas. Since 2005, She has been experimenting with fabric, fiber, and quilting techniques. As a retired high school librarian, she naturally seeks order and discipline. Conversely, quilting provides a means for exploring creativity and gaining a new perspective on the world. Leslie's work can be viewed on her website at modernartquiltsbyleslie.com.
