Lead Guided Wildflower Hike with Marietta Adventure
Description
Marietta Adventure will take you and 11 friends or family on a Guided Wildflower hike through the Wayne National Forest, (Marietta Unit). On the hike, you’ll experience a diverse microclimate filled with dendrology, botany, ornithology and much more! The climate we experience in the Mid-Ohio Valley is unique to this area in regards to its mirroring actions of a subtropical Rainforest. This creates a diverse culture of plants, animals and birds alike to call it home while also making it a vastly populated area for migrant birds. The hike is 7 miles and expected to take about 3.5 hours to complete including shuttle time to the trail head. The hike covers 3 separate trails. On the first leg of our trip we will be on the North Country Trail, connect to the Greenwood Trail for the brunt of the hike and finish our hike on the Scenic View Trail. Our guide here at Marietta Adventure Company, has degree fields in Wildlife Management and Wildlife Education and has studied this area for the past four years. Jessica will take you through the Wayne National Forest and will also provide field guide books for identification purposes on the local birds, plants and wildlife. With a light snack provided throughout. Marietta Adventure Company strives to reach every interested resident in the Mid-Ohio Valley and beyond to provide them with the proper tools to experience the great outdoors. Additional Details: • Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own water and snacks and a light day pack with any additional necessities. • This donation is valid for one year after issue date. • Dates of Availability: This hike is designed for wildflower identification, however accommodations can be made if the time of donation redemption is out of the traditional wildflower blooming season. Wildflowers generally bloom late April-May. • Dates that are NOT available: The second weekend in August • Up to 12 people at one time can attend this hike there is no minimum number. • An age recommendation of 12 years old and up is set for guest enjoyment and involvement. • Accessibility Limitations: Guests will be responsible to meet at the base of the trail in the Wayne National Forest where we then will shuttle up to the trailhead and begin our journey. The hike takes place on a rough rocky surface and proper shoes and attire are required. • Food and Drink: We will provide a light snack however guests are welcome to supply their own food. Guests are encouraged to bring ample water during the hike as there will not be availability to refill as we are out. • Alcohol is not permitted. • Emergency Situations: Your guide is a certified Wilderness First Responder, Level four Swift Water Rescue and an NIA certified. There is an emergency bail point 2 miles from the base of the trail that leads back to a road. If needed your guide will have extra water, food and a first aid kit. This hike is pre-planned with maps and a compass however a satellite GPS will be available if needed. • If there are any health concerns, food allergies or other restrictions, these will need to be brought to Jessica’s attention BEFORE shuttling to the trailhead. • General Guidelines on what to bring: Hiking shoes/socks, Water, Snacks, Day pack, Clothing appropriate for weather conditions, Personal first aid kit, camera /phone to take pictures • Package Value: $750.00
