Beauty and The Beast by Renee Hathcoat Large Butterfly - 45" H, 62" Wingspan “I was inspired by an actual moth and butterfly. The eyes of the Beast on the Moth, the color of the Beauties dress, and moths are hairy….” Why FLIGHT? “I love helping to raise money for kids to have the opportunity to experience art. I never want art to quit being part of education.” Renee, who has a BA in Studio Art from Colorado College and an Associate in Computer Science from Colorado Tech is best known for her commercial and private art glass installations with Hathcoat Studios, LTD, which she has co-owned for 20 years. She loves creating in a variety of media and painting in the style of the old masters using glazes and many layers of color. This has given her the ability to work with the unique properties of glass and light. Renee has won many awards for snow sculpting and was commissioned to create sculptures for the 1985 World Cup in Vail, and invited to snow sculpt in Finland’s winter festival and for the Calgary Canada 1988 Winter Olympics. She creates everything from large welded outdoor sculptures to small glass desktop sculptures. Her largest glass sculpture to date is hanging at Penrose St. Francis Main. Her artwork is located all over the world. She has also provided custom glassware for the likes of President Bush, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith and others.
